Buzzell, Welsh & Hill Urges Safe Driving Habits During National Teen Driver Safety Week
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 14-18 year olds in the U.S. In fact, almost half of the teen drivers involved in a crash die. That’s why the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration started National Teen Driver Safety Week. This year, the “5 to Drive” campaign encourages the parents of teen drivers to set the rules before their teens hit the road.
“Surveys have shown that only 25% of parents talk with their kids about safe driving habits,” commented Stephen Welsh, Senior Partner at Buzzell, Welsh Welsh. “Our kids have a lot to learn. We want to get the word out that parents need to talk to their teens and save lives.”
Here are some great tools and programs for parents to teach their teens about safe driving:
- Parent-Teen Driving Agreement – Put your expectations in writing. The Centers for Disease Control website offers a contract that you and your teen can sign and post on your refrigerator. Click here to read more.

- UPS Road Code – The UPS Foundation teamed up with Boys & Girls Clubs of America educate teens on safe driving techniques.
