Buzzell, Welsh & Hill recently opened up the application process for their third $2,500 Scholarship Contest. Any student enrolled in college courses or in technical school for the Fall 2021 semester is eligible to enter.

“We’re happy to help students follow their dreams and passions,” said Steve Welsh, Managing Partner at the firm. “Costs associated with school have been rising for years, and we want to help ease that burden while also generating attention around safer driving.”

In order to win the $2,500 scholarship, students must reimagine the driver education process. Current standards have been in place for years, and new drivers often remark that it doesn’t focus enough on driving. Entrants can completely rethink the curriculum, structure, implementation, testing, and any other aspect of the licensing process. The new program should help create more confident and conscientious drivers.

“Access to education and professional skills can create a better future for students. And focusing on driver education can help ensure that students get to live out that future,” said Steve. “Driving today is different than ten, or even five, years ago. Applicants should incorporate solutions to current distractions to reinforce good habits in new drivers.”

Students can choose how they want to format their new driver education program. That can be text, video, graphics or any other media that clearly outlines the proposed curriculum. Applicants can focus on Macon, the state of Georgia, or the entire country. Proposals will be judged on creativity and how well it prepares young drivers. The ultimate goal should be to create safer roads for everyone.

After reviewing all entries, one applicant will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship for the Fall 2021 semester.

The contest is open to US citizens and permanent residents who are attending or plan to attend an accredited US college, university, or technical/trade school in the Fall 2021 semester. The deadline to apply is April 30th, 2021. The winner will be selected in early May. Applicants can apply here.
